Development of a post-traumatic stress disorder model in zebrafish

Proyecto: Ayudas internas/convocatorias propiasProyectos

Detalles del proyecto

Descripción

The aim of this project is to develop a Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) model in zebrafish and as part of this model, the characterization of the neurotransmitter (more concretely the monoaminergic system) profiles. It will be studied the neurotransmitters tryptophan, 5-hydroxy-tryptophan (5-HTP), serotonin (5-HT), 5-hydroxy-indoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), Tyrosine, L-DOPA, dopamine (DA), 3-metoxytyramine (3-MT), DOPAC, Homovanillic acid (HVA) and norepinephrine (NE), among others. From here, different approaches will be tried with the aim of preventing or increasing the resistance of animals to suffer PTSD in front of a powerful aversive stimulus, which is generally able to induce this neuropathy. To characterize the monoaminergic system, an analytical method based on liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) will be optimized.
