Resum
Flannery O’Connor (1925-1964) is a caustic writer who uses violence and compassion as a nexus to shake the reader. In this article we address the concept of compassion in the American author, a compassion that is not a pure love that is shared out of the pain of others, but the possibility of empathy with otherness. Compassion as a mediation, as a bridge between grace and the denial of salvation. In our journey, we point out four elements of how compassion is communicated in this author_ accepting dependence, opening up to hope, highlighting prophetism and recognizing that reality prevails.
