Resum

Physical and sports activities in urban space of the city is experiencing an exponential growth, to the point of generating unprecedented situations in the management needs of the space by local administrations. The benefits of promoting healthy lifestyles, as well as the social or economic bnefits that these practices bring to the community, are already recognized. However, an uncontrolled increase in these activities can lead to conflicts that affect public-private relations and governance at the municipal level. The objective of this project is to establish public-private collaboration models between the administration and the economic and social agents that should allow to gather the interests of all agents that are influenced by this type of practices. A census of public spaces has been carried out that host physical-sporting practices in three cities (Barcelona, Bilbao and Malaga) for this purpose. A second phase of observation and analysis is currently underway. A third and final proactive phase will focus on setting guidelines for action in cities in the promotion and management of sports and physical activities in the public space. The first results of the exploratory phase confirms that the management of public space for sports requires a cross-cut work to be carried out between different municipal services in order to guarantee a management that exceeds the mere control in the utilization of this public spaces
