title = "A non-resonant element for multiband operation in smartphones and tablets",
abstract = "The increasing number of bands in wireless devices pushes the antenna technology to its limits seeking for small and multiband antennas. In this sense, an electrically small non-resonant element of only 125mm3 for smartphones and 250mm3 for tablets is shown to demonstrate the feasibility. Results conclude that said small element with a multiband matching network, can provide operation at two different frequency regions thanks to the proper excitation of radiation modes in the ground plane. The antenna complexity is reduced to a small-multiband and very simple element easy to manufacture and integrate in emerging mobile platforms.",
