Resumen

It is well-established that monosulfidic and disulfidic bonds are the most stable crosslink types of vulcanized rubber. Thus, regarding devulcanization procedures, it would be very interesting to study the reactivity of such crosslinks when treated by using different heating sources [microwaves (MW) and conductive heating (CH)] and chemicals. For that reason, digeranyl monosulfide and digeranyl disulfide have been synthesized in order to study separately their thermal degradation and their reactivity with the devulcanizing agents. In this study, diphenyl disulfide (DPDS) has been used as devulcanizing agent, and its devulcanizing effect has been enhanced when using MW.
