Humanistic management as a new logic for operations and supply chain management education

Producción científica: Contribución a una conferenciaContribuciónrevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

Several academics are suggesting a more integration of humanities into management education. This article proposes how to integrate Humanistic Management (HM) into the teaching of Operations and SCM, arguing that the traditional approach, dominated by the economistic paradigm, presents operational decisions as technically neutral and ignores their social and moral implications. Drawing on the HM framework, the article would rethink course objectives, reinterpret classic topics—such as process design, lean operations, planning, global sourcing, and risk management—from the perspective of human dignity, worker well-being, and social responsibility. In addition to topics, we will also consider which methodologies can be more effective to integrate this paradigm.
