Resumen
Last years, the necessity of analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF) and planar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) has increased in order to carry out the European legislation about the control of these compounds in food and feed. To achieve their correct determination, the analytical methodology should have a step to separate PCDD/F and planar PCB families. In this work, we have studied the fractionation in a HPLC chromatograph equiped with a silica column funcionalized with pyrenyl groups, that allows the separation of PCDD/F, planar PCB, and other interferants (e.g. the bulk of PCB) in a single step. An analytical method for the determination of PCDD/F and planar PCBs in meat and fish samples, based on this fractionation, has been validated with satisfactory results. That method has been used for the analysis of several meat and fish samples, which showed levels lower than those established in legislation.
