Resumen

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are crucial in contemporary society, with 3D printing being a notable application. While widely used, its implementation in schools faces challenges such as long printing times, material wastage, energy consumption, and limited accessibility. Addressing these challenges, remote laboratories offer a viable solution by granting access to diverse laboratory tools from any location, thereby enhancing the learning experience for students and providing a more favorable educational environment. Additionally, these platforms contribute to the development of self-learning skills through feedback tools, enabling students to progress at their own pace. In this investigation, the suitability of a 3D printer laboratory provided by LabsLand in enhancing the learning process of first-year high secondary education students in the subject of Technology and Engineering. The findings, obtained through a pre/post-test design, indicate that the LabsLand remote laboratory aids students understand key concepts related to 3D printing, particularly regarding the optimal orientation for printing a part. Furthermore, the study measured students’ overall experience with the platform, revealing high levels of satisfaction due to an improved grasp of 3D printing technology. In conclusion, LabsLand's remote laboratory effectively assists first-year high secondary education students in learning ICT and fostering self-learning skills.
