Resumen
We present a qualitative analysis about the evolution of symptoms and the school intervention for a 15-year-old adolescent diagnosed with Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome and Asperger’s Syndrome. In these two disorders, comorbidity has not been thoroughly studied yet. We carried out a direct observation of the adolescent’s behaviour at school for two terms. We used a diary for the academic daily events, where all the relevant data concerning the subject’s behaviour were noted down and personal drawings or narrations were collected with the aim of developing a list of behaviour patterns. With the aim of increasing the subject’s level of self-awareness concerning control and lack of control of his behaviours, he was applied permanent positive reinforcement and control of situations with more violent behaviours. We observed that, independently of the different psychogenetic and psychoneurological origin of both syndromes, resulting behaviours are similar, and the intervention applied has favourable results. Results lead us to say that the symptoms are quite similar in both syndromes and this can be approached from the cognitive-behavioural perspective and for both syndromes at once.
