Resumen

Efficiency and accuracy are always high priority for the sheet forming industry using computer simulation. Three topics that have been identified as vital to the future of simulation are addressed here: computational speed and the accurate modelling of drawbeads and springback. Some solutions to these issues, implemented in the explicit dynamic software Stampack, are presented. Stampack overcomes the computational speed problem by implementing an efficient simple triangular shell element and operating in parallel on a number of computer processors. An efficient drawbead model based on the equivalent drawbead concept is presented as well as the implicit springback algorithm that is utilised. The combination of these aspects provides a very fast solution that is accurate for the needs of the industry.
