The Digilab: Media, Strategy and Regulation works as a laboratory of ideas in favour of incorporating innovation into news media, as well as the participation of citizens into the digital public sphere. Our objective is to contribute to the public and academic debate with high quality research, based on solid theoretical bases and empirical data. Hence, Digilab intends to contribute to the promotion of democratic culture both in the use of news media and in the relationship between media institutions and the new participatory dimension of audiences and publics. The research activity of Digilab is articulated in three major areas of study: 1) Media and technology; 2) Audiences and dynamics of appropriation (engagement, agency, reflexivity); 3) Media pluralism, freedom of expression and news media.
