Abstract

Entrepreneurship is a key driver of economic growth, innovation, and societal well-being. Higher education institutions play a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurial intention among students through their learning environments, curricula, and pedagogical approaches. This study, conducted within the framework of the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS) Spain, aims to identify the university-related factors that significantly predict entrepreneurial intention levels among students. Using data from the GUESSS Spain 2023 survey and a sample of more than 36,000 students, we examine how different dimensions of university education influence students' entrepreneurial intentions. To analyze these effects, a multiple linear regression analysis is conducted in order to assess how these predictors contribute to the variance in entrepreneurial intention indicators. The independent variables include measures of university climate, entrepreneurial education received, and entrepreneurial learning experiences. Preliminary findings suggest that a positive and supportive university climate, along with experiential and well-structured entrepreneurial education, significantly enhances students’ entrepreneurial intentions. The results of this study provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators and university administrators to design more effective entrepreneurship education programs that contribute to the competitiveness and sustainable economic development of regions. By strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem within universities, this research contributes to fostering innovation and growth through education and technology.
