Abstract
The Beta Phenyl Quenching (BPQ) reaction occurs from the triplet state of aromatic ketones with aromatic group in position beta. This review discusses the main features that define the BPQ reaction, namely the reaction mechanism and the effects of substituents, solvent and hindered rotation of the phenyl rings.
