Abstract
The aim of the present article it to examine a short storywritten by Alfred Döblin and entitled «The Dancer and the Body», toshow that what is apparently only the narrative of the life of a dancer,actually deploys a far-reaching philosophical problem: the
relationbetween the subject and the object. The short story will throw lighton the philosophical problem and this, in turn, will allow us to deployan underlying meaning of the story which is often overlooked.
