Abstract

Nowadays, most family businesses in Venezuela which are privately owned, are suffering due to the devastating economic crisis which threats the continuity of the group. The consumption of eggs is decreasing at a breakneck pace, and the costs of production are increasing and becoming very high due to high prices of raw material to produce feed. Also, prices are fixed and controlled by the government. Many factors are constellated to jeopardize the survival of the family group. One of the most relevant (concerning market share and visibility) companies of the group, which processes, classifies and distributes eggs, has been working on an internationalization plan. One of the challenges they must face is convincing all owners that internationalization is needed to survive.
