Abstract
In university education and especially in the architecture framework, the use of digital images is widespread. However, such use is far from being optimized since both students and teachers systematically ignore some technical key concepts such as the characteristics of the device or the final user. The general trend is the creation of images with high resolutions, what generates large size files that increase the time of loading, editing and/or transmission. This paper analyzes how the level of perceived quality of the image affects the user's emotional response based on the characteristics of the image, the device on which it is displayed, and the user profile. The novelty of this empirical methodology lies in the application of metrics traditionally applied on sociology and psychology studies to carry out an audiovisual communication research focused at a university level.
