Abstract

Reference systems for Potentiometrie oxygen sensor in molten 44.5% lead - 55.5% bismuth alloy have been evaluated. Two types of reference systems have been considered: metal / metal oxide and gas with a defined oxygen partial pressure. In/ln2O3 and Sn/SnO have been chosen as a metal / metal oxide reference system, and Pt/air is the gas reference system tested. The sensor performance using all three reference systems has been evaluated using a low oxygen content covering gas (90% Ar + 10% H2 or 99.999% Ar) and air (20% O2). All the tests have been performed in stagnant conditions at 500 °C in an autoclave.
