Abstract

Society, the economy, and the business world have developed considerably in Spain during the years that followed its entry into the European Economic Community in 1986. Alongside these changes, business ethics and other related concepts such as corporate social responsibility (CSR) have also seen significant conceptual and practical developments, like those in other European countries, each with their own unique characteristics. This chapter summarises this development process: what the drivers were, both internationally (mainly European, as would be expected) and nationally; and which actors have been involved in this process, with a special focus on educational institutions, financial entities, and businesses; as well as the current situation.
