    Abstract

In this paper a new multimodal model useful to analyze the behavior of two signal lines separated by a guard trace is presented. A multimodal point of view allows a simple interpretation of the phenomena involved in the coupling and transmission of signals propagating through the three traces. Three guard trace configurations are analyzed using the model and measured in order to test the adequacy of the multimodal approach. The results show a good agreement between the measurements and the model, validating it.
