Abstract
The global scenario is nudging the curiosity of Comparative law scholars to undertake “journeys” towards distant destinations (notably Africa and Asia) which have been traditionally considered secondary by Western academia. Such a intellectual tension has nevertheless uncovered the inadequacy of the methodological “equipment” that Western scholars have in order to establish an empathic communication with legal alterity. These limits are still deeply rooted in Modern positivism and can be linked to both methodology and its strongly simplified narration offered by academia. We therefore need creative solutions that blossom making methodological awareness a central reflection in the legal education of “global” scholars, stimulating their deepest exigencies toward a more articulated identity beyond the mere rational functionality of their research.
