Abstract
Analysis of the Spanish extreme right during the last four decades (1966-2007). The article studies how inseperable its evolution was from a deep renovation of its leaders and ideologues. This was reflected in the abandonment of the discourses nostalgic for the past (the Civil War and the dictatorship) and the acceptance of others that are similar to those of the far right in Western Europe. In this way, the Spanish far right has broken away from the political culture it inherited from Franco-ism and has started to construct another alternative culture, importing foreign discourses.
