Abstract
Compost is a process of biotransformation of organic matter, that in the last years has become the most appropiate alternative, either economically or technically, to treat organic solid waste in a rational way. Stabilization or biotransformation of organic matter is obtained thanks to the proliferation of disintegration organisms which through enzymatic reactions (mainly oxidative) degrade the material towards a heterogeneous mass, similar to the ground and which receives the name of compost. The aim of this article, is to give a general idea of the composting process that involves essentially farming wastes and the variables related.
