Inclusive leadership in Nicaragua and the DRC

Research output: Book chapterChapter

Abstract

Inter-organizational relationships play a crucial role in the struggle for a more inclusive globalization. Examples of such relationships are microfinance and social enterprise. But also private companies (in partnerships with other organizations) can contribute to promote social inclusion without deceiving their shareholders. Nonetheless, a special style of leadership is necessary for firm managers to succeed in such an attempt. This chapter presents the special traits and challenges of leadership in these context by comparing two conceptual approaches (Maak and Pless' Responsible Leadership and B.S. Santos' Work of Translation) and illustrates this comparison with two practical cases (A Federation of cooperatives in Nicaragua and an Employer Organization in the DR of the Congo).
