    Abstract

    This article describes the results obtained after the isolation and identification of the moulds present in samples obtained at different stages of the compost production process from two Catalan composting plants (Blanes and Manresa) as well as compost samples taken from other origins. Once the moulds were identified, the main goal of the present work was to determine by means of HPLC-MS chromatography if the Aspergillus and Penicillium strains isolated from the mentioned previous samples were capable to produce aflatoxins and ochratoxin A. None of the isolated strains demonstrated to be mycotoxigenic.
