Abstract

Psychosocial treatment in an essential part of therapeutic process of patients with dual pathology diagnoses. One of the key elements in this type of interventions is the reconstruction of free and leisure time of the patients because persons with drug dependence diagnoses use this time to drug consumption frequently. Objective. This study aims to explore two relevant issues in a group of patients with dual pathology: first, to analyse the management of the free time and the elements that facilitate or make difficult this ability; second, to explore their vision of the program and their proposals of improvement. Results. The qualitative analysis indicated that the social network is the factor that improves an adequate management of free and leisure time. The participation in activities of the ambulatory care service improves the reconstruction of the social network. Lack of information and time compromises make difficult the participation of patients. Conclusions. Participants described the importance of improve the communication with the service and with the professionals. Clinical implications of the results were described.
