Abstract

Costco opens their first warehouse club shop format in Spain (Seville) and in Europe. In this article there is an understanding of the retail implications of such decision, from three angles: the retail company, the Sevilian customers, the retail competitors, and the suppliers. The article starts explaining the specific characteristics of this new shop format (warehouse club), both in the front-end and in the back-end (e.g. the financials), because this is new to Spain and Europe.
