Abstract

In this paper, novel metasurface-backed dipoles are proposed. The dipoles are printed on a thin substrate the bottom of which is designed to get the characteristics of artificial magnetic conductor(AMC) for acceptable antenna performances. The structure is exemplified to resonate at 2.4 GHz as a relatively low frequency. The properties of the proposed AMC-backed dipoles are investigated in terms of the size, return loss, antenna efficiency and the like, Also, it is shown that the problems of the PEC-backed dipoles can be solved by the method.
