Abstract
The number of patients undergoing cosmetic surgery in Spain increases day by day, and is now one of the highest in Europe. Despite the high percentage of adult women patients, the number of men and adolescent women undergoing cosmetic surgery is also increasing. Requesting such physical changes is closely related to the search of a positive self and, thus, to psychological and social dimensions. The goal of this study is to approach the social construction of cosmetic surgery in order to better understand the relationship between body, psychological and social dimensions.
