Can we help them better? Planning an Intervention with the Support of a Learning Analytics Dashboard

Abstract

VISIR-DB is a teacher-facing learning analytics dashboard designed for VISIR, a remote laboratory for electrical and electronic circuits. With the recent transition from VISIR to HIVE-an updated platform that retains VISIR's trace collection capabilities-VISIR-DB has been enhanced to support HIVE-generated data. These advancements enable the use of VISIR-DB insights to inform and guide instructional interventions throughout a course. This study focuses on trace data from a module on DC circuit measurements. By applying multiple grading strategies, four distinct student groups were identified from their work in HIVE, and targeted teaching interventions are proposed based on these findings.
