Abstract
Systematic and aggressive chase of material goods will destroy the ecosystem, but the chasing of values expressed only in monetary terms, will be catastrophic to both the social and the economic fabric of life. What value would all these goods have if we were alone on this planet? In this paper it is argued that mankind has developed such a lifestyle, as if survival and prosperity have been granted forever. Observed holistically, we face fundamental problems in all the important areas of life. Most of them can endanger the very continuity of our culture and even the existence of mankind. The authors presented them in form of key questions.
