Abstract
This article analyses the reactions to a social nativity scene installed in the Plaça de la Vila in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) in 2021. An inductive methodology was used, classifying the different commentaries that appeared in some social networks into seven categories. Subsequently, several semi-structured interviews and a focus group were held to discuss the opinions received. The conclusions obtained reflect the difficulty many people had in understanding a nativity scene that broke with the classical canons, the identification of tradition with a nostalgia rather than an experience of the present, and the richness of the debate generated by a proposal like this in the public space.
