| Angelo Romasanta is an Assistant Professor in the Operations, Innovation and Data Science department, where he investigates how to maximize the impact of science. His work centers on three main areas: exploring the implications of artificial intelligence in R&D, examining how scientific discoveries translate into business through deep tech ventures, and studying how digital infrastructures can advance scientific collaborations. His recent research has focused on AI breakthroughs such as AlphaFold, working in collaboration with prominent organizations like DeepMind and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. He also has been involved in two major European initiatives coordinated by CERN: ATTRACT, a €50 million program aimed at commercializing technologies from Europe's leading research infrastructures, and Science Mesh, a project designed to integrate cloud services across Europe to enhance international scientific collaboration. He earned his PhD in Innovation Management with cum laude distinction from the Science, Business and Innovation department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. As a Marie Curie fellow in the European FragNet project, he studied the adoption and commercialization of emerging technologies in the pharmaceutical industry, fostering partnerships between major pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, and academic research groups. Before transitioning to business, he was a trained chemist. He holds an Erasmus Mundus Master's degree in Chemical Innovation and Regulation, completed through a consortium of the Universities of Bologna, Barcelona, and Algarve. Originally from the Philippines, he received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Ateneo de Manila University. |
