animals become aggressive, as do humans, due to a number of reasons:
survival instinct, an emotional reaction, a frustration or an injustice, blind
obedience to authorities, cultural influences… those and many more may
lead to human violent behaviors. However, there is an extreme violence,
exclusively human, which may be defined as evilness. R.Girard’s interdividual psychology, based on the mimetic theory of desire, explains how
desire can trigger extreme violence. Evilness starts by wishing to possess
someone else’s possession, ultimately their being or identity. V.Frankl
considers violence as a consequence of both existential frustration and
meaning of life loss. Girard elaborates on this statement. Girard and Frankl share a phenomenological-existential vision: by understanding the origin of our deepest desires and addressing them meaningfully, violent attitudes and behaviors may be prevented. Frankl suggested that Logo-education allows to educate self-conscience, responsibility, decision making
in life, self-transcendence, coexistence values and nodal identity.
