Resum
In this work we present an international comparative analysis of the effects of high performance work systems (HPWS) on firm outcomes. Using data derived from Cranet 2005 dataset, we conducted an exploratory analysis of the impact of such systems on two performance indicators (i.e. labor turnover and profitability) of companies that operate in four countries (Germany, Greece, Spain and the United Kingdom). The results show that HPWS travel well from one country to another as such management principles prove to be equally effective in all the countries considered as judged by its effects on absenteeism and company profitability.
