N2 - A conventional monopole antenna (/4) operating at FM frequencies is too long for being integrated in a mobile phone. In order to avoid big external antennas or using the wire of the headsets, a new solution is proposed. It consists in reusing an existing mobile phone antenna usually operating at the communication standards (ex: GSM, CDMA, UMTS) with the aim of achieving operation also at FM band. Impedance, received power and audio quality measurements have been carried out demonstrating that a mobile handset antenna operating at GSM 900/1800 also allows users to listen to FM satisfactorily.
