Repercusión de la crisis económica en la salud mental: reforma psiquiátrica, una cuestión a resolver

The starting point of this contribution are the adverse effects in the mental health of many people that the economic crisis (started in 1993) produces. It follows putting in relation this serious health problem with the response from public authorities. In order to do that, there is a focus on the existing welfare system for psychiatric disease, whose origin is in the process of "deinstitutionalization" which began in the 1970s. Work address these issues: reform orientation criticism; the degree of application in Catalonia and the present situation.
