Resum

Regulation has to trade-off between competing forces to achieve the energy trilemma. Anti-trust policies have been seen as the best way to achieve this. The advances in digitalisation, generation distribution and batteries have dramatically transformed the landscape of energy provision. Regulators have to be cautious of innovations so as not to endanger the grid stability, argues the author, but giving opportunities to test innovations can drive new business models.
