Resum
This work collects and discusses information published about prevalence, impact and group treatment of anxiety disorders in the primary health care system. The objective is to be updated and promote research of an integrated psychological care model in the field of primary care. A bibliographical research was carried out in the databases PSYCHOINFO and MEDLINE between years 1995 and 2010 using the words: primary health care centre, impact, prevalence, health promotion, group psychotherapy, anxiety disorders, agoraphobia, and panic attacks. A total of 152 studies was found, 45 of which were selected to be reviewed. The integrated assessment and early detection of symptoms are fundamental as a tool of health prevention and to avoid future demands for more serious disorders in specialised centres. Group intervention is considered as an efficient therapeutic alternative that adapts to the needs of the field of study.
