Resum
This article documents the incorporation of gender and income equality references into spending reviews in Spain. This is a new direction, as spending reviews have to date mostly been employed, and studied, as instruments geared towards achieving efficiency and managing budgetary cutbacks. The article interprets and discusses this new development as a manifestation of the ‘public value’ movement in public administration.
