Resum
The large utilisation of telework during the Covid-19 crisis clarified its possible impacts on the quality of employment. One of the most critical aspects concerns the negative effects that telework may have on workers' current and future financial situation, caused by additional professional costs, unpaid working hours, increased psychosocial risks and by the loss of 'social learning' opportunities. The contribution addresses this issue, investigating how to prevent it, through a 'fair compensation'. The study, thus, consists of a comparative analysis of the proposals developed in this sense by the main French, Italian and Spanish trade unions. The first section of the contribution corresponds to an introductory literature review about the possible elements of a teleworkers' fair compensation. The second provides a brief outline about the statutory measures already adopted in the considered countries to compensate the negative impact of telework. The third section addresses the proposals developed by the main French, Italian and Spanish trade unions to provide a fair compensation to teleworkers. The last section analyses three benchmarks about fair compensation, which could be implemented through social dialogue. The outcome of the contribution is a series of guidelines to ensure a fair compensation to present and future European teleworkers.
