Resum
The goal of this article is to present the development and validation of a construct to measure the managerial competence of the top management team of a young firm. The managerial competence is the overarching competence to found and grow a firm. Central dimensions are functional, social, and specific entrepreneurial competencies. This study further analysis the impact of the top management team competencies on the success of their firms. The 180 firms are technology based firms focusing on microtechnology, nanotechnology, electronics, optik and laser technologies.
