Resum

K_2P or two-pore-domain potassium channels where first molecularly identified in the nineties. Since then, a great effort has been put to unravel their role in cellular excitability. It is known that K_2P channels play a fundamental part in setting and stabilizing the resting membrane potential and are thought to be key elements in pain pathways. For these and many other reasons, K_2P channels are regarded as promising targets for new drug design.
