Resum
Recent research has connected the overcoming of triangular relationships or Oedipus complex with secure attachment. The aim of this study was to present an instrument and verify its reliability and validity pa-rameters, with the goal of creating the Assessment Inventory of Triangular Relationships (AITR), which is based on Corman’s Patte Noir projective test (1981). Our study was conducted with a sample of 100 participants, aged between 5 and 18 years. To verify content validity, the answers were classified based on 28 items and grouped into four response categories, then subjected to expert agreement. The average rate of agreement obtained an acceptable degree of validity (60-80) for one category and satisfactory validity (80-100) for the rest of categories accepted. As confirmation of the reliability, the Cronbach’s alpha was, in general, between 0.56 and 0.74. The results show that the AITR has appropriate psychometric properties, and the AIRT is deemed to be a useful tool for quantita-tively assessing triangular relationships as a complement to the overall Patte Noir evaluation, adding objectivity and reliability to the test.
