N2 - Over the years, the scientific literature has demonstrated the relationship that exists between some of the psychosocial risks, such as stress and burnout, with aspects of personality, working conditions and the way in which work is organised. In the last twenty years, there has been increased interest in studying the burnout syndrome. It is believed that burnout syndrome is one of the main causes of demotivation, dissatisfaction and absenteeism from work among health workers. The etiology of the problem is still not clear. Nevertheless, some studies have shown that there is a direct relationship with aspects of the social and working environment and of the individual's environment. This project set out to explore a problem that directly affects medical staff and hospitals around the world. The burnout syndrome (Maslach and Jackson, 1986) is a type of work-related stress of which the etiology is unknown. It has not been possible to establish the differential diagnosis of burnout syndrome. However, burnout syndrome has a direct effect on the physical and psychological health of professionals who provide a care service, such as doctors. As well as affecting the quality of work life of professionals, burnout syndrome has negative repercussions on the quality of the services provided by public and private health systems. Therefore, burnout syndrome is a work-related problem of international scope, affecting the health of both the individual and the organisation, and one that requires an equally global plan of action.
