Epistemology and the case method

Resum

The case method has been mainly developed as a didactical instrument for training managers and students in analysis of situations and decision making. But many time we use it as a method for scientific research. This kind of application is criticised by the inconclusive epistemological argument that it involves an induction based on the observation of a single process. We think that the best way to clarify this point is to study the logic and philosophical problems of induction. (Paper of the Proceedings of "Seminar Epistemology and Case Method Analisys" placed at Instituto Universitario Navale of Naples on April 29th-30th 1996).
