EDUCATION & HBBTV: Research About Content Inclusion in University

The standard of hybrid and interactive television HbbTV is consolidating in the Spanish and European environment. While the industry (content creators, manufacturers, chains, and suppliers) tries to optimize the performance of this standard, the University perceives the need to study the phenomenon in parallel with business advances, in order to consider the inclusion in the study plans of the Degrees and the Postgraduate courses more linked as area of knowledge. With the aim of probing the opinion of university students about the HbbTV, its complexity, its potential applications and the most prone subjects to include possible contents, this research is carried out, of an eminently prospective nature and in order to respond to the new demands of society, in this case in the television experience and the Internet. It is concluded that it is appropriate to introduce in the form of content in curricula, subjects or even new subjects a new and advanced technology that can penetrate the classroom and profoundly transform the relationship between students and teachers, as well as modify the dynamics in the classroom or in the seminars, more open and horizontal.
