Resum
It is a commonplace that digitization has transformed entire economic sectors. Energy systems are not immune to this substantial technological change. Probably, the electricity sector is the most conducive to experimenting. So far, neither the business status quo nor the role of the consumer/user in it, has seen a transformation like that that has taken place in other sectors, from commercial distribution to hospitality or transport. It is the subject of this work, to analyze some of the legislative and regulatory changes that should take place to make such a transformation possible. All this on the basis that they contributed to a better realization of the so-called "energy trilemma": security of supply, affordability of prices, environmental sustainability. When going into detail, we focus on Spanish legislation and regulation, in connection with European Union law.
