Resum

Two ultra-wideband frequency agile antennas are proposed for radar and monitoring applications. The first one is based on an ultra-wideband antenna that reduces its bandwidth using frequency-dependent components to get a continuous four-band switchable antenna. The reconfigurable antenna can work from 1.5 GHz to 5.5 GHz with an instant bandwidth of up to 1 GHz. A microstrip line used as the feed-line and a slot-line introduce narrow-band stubs controlled by RF-MEMS switches to change the operating frequency band. The second one uses a shared horn aperture and multiple feeds to achieve three bands from 0.5 GHz to 7 GHz. The design combines a modified eye drop shaped dipole, a double ridge horn and two Vivaldi shaped antennas to excite the double ridge horn antenna. Both designs maintain good radiation pattern stability in all their bands.
