Resum
This paper analyses the deficit in the provision of local public services in Spain, especially in its relationship with municipal size and population units within a municipality (a variable not considered in the literature). The empirical analysis shows that both variables are relevant. Both the analysis and the results appear valuable for discussions related to municipal consolidation as a solution to deficient public service provision.
