Resum
The innovation of this article consists in the outlook from which burnout is studied,
being close to Positive Psychology. Its main aim is to describe social, occupational
and personal features that turn out to be the most protective for persons at risk of
suffering from burnout. Data were collected from 523 physicians working in health
services in Catalonia (Spain). In the first place, the information was analyzed with
bivariating techniques, and secondly, the Tree Analysis technique was used to find
out which were the personal, professional and organizational configurations implying
most or least burnout risk. Results point to a stronger relationship between burnout
and job-extrinsic factors rather than individual factors. Besides, there seems
to exist a certain relationship between burnout and the congruence of values
between the person and the institution in which he works.
